Genevieve’s love and passion for antique furniture, interior and impeccable design is noticeable from the moment you step into the picturesque Harpsichord house. This home has it all with its quaint fire place, beautiful linen sets, cosy leather couches and plenty of books to peruse through catapulting you into a different world away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. Open the fridge and you find fresh milk, artisan bread from the local bakery, smoked salmon and fresh grind coffee for you to enjoy while watching the chicken roam around in the colorful garden. As you can tell, we fell in love with this place and Kyneton. The attention to detail and the love Genevieve has put into this luxurious place will make you want to stay forever. We switched off the second we got here....and will be back very soon!

“AMAZING STAY!! Stunning house full of gorgeous furniture, art, linen. This house was thoughtfully designed and was very easy to feel at home. Close walking distance to piper st. driving distance to wineries too! Host was very nice. We arrived late Friday and was able to pick up keys from local restaurant. Kyneton is a beautiful place and you should visit Turpin Falls! ”

Gorgeous studio perfect for a short stay. Beautiful bathroom products and delicious bread, butter and locally made jam left for us for breakfast. Studio has everything you need for a short stay, very comfortable and love the interiors. Great location and lovely neighbourhood.

“This was our second stay at Flop House. We love it! We will be back.”
— Ben, Harpsichord House, March, 2017
Had an amazing stay last weekend at the Shopkeepers House in Maldon, the weather was cold, wet and rainy but the house was warm and cosy around the open fire! Beautifully made linen beds, a luxurious big hot shower, and a refreshing weekend away in what seems to be a carefully orchestrated mash-up between a goldfields museum, and a lavish 5 star B&B. Woke up to the nostalgic sounds of the local steam train, had an amazing lunch at Bress, a beautiful local winery, and then folk music at the Kangaroo hotel in the evening. Perfect. Cant wait to come back!

What a beautiful property- overlooking farmland, surrounded by trees and spring flowers and close to Kyneton. We had such a relaxing stay, in this well equiped and stylishly decorated accomodation. The bath house rates a special mention - complete with chandelier and fire for heating. Highly recommended if you fancy a mini break just an hour from Melbourne.

Hi Genevieve,
I was so revived after I got back to reality after my stay at Maldon that I forgot to write to say how much we loved it.
The little Maldon house was just gorgeous. Rupert loved the garden, we were enchanted by the walk through the park lands past the Bee Keepers chimney to get into the town. The town was super picturesque and everyone was really friendly we got great coffee (always a relief). I bought a beautiful piece of fabric from Levander and lace too and found a french Vogue in the newsagents. Very Happy Jan!
The sheets on the bed were divine. I love a brass bed so that was a nice surprise. The breakfast was delicious thank you! I felt like everything was thought of which was very comforting and relaxing. I always forget shampoo etc. and then need to wash my hair so I was very happy to find that all there and a hair dryer, brilliant!
It was a lovely experience. We can’t wait to come back!
I attached to photos from our trip.
Thank you from,
Alice and William and Rupert!

“I’m a sucker for loving attention to detail.
Our stay at the Birdhouse hosted by the lovely Flophouse Crew just had it all and more and not to much of anything.
Delicious simplicity, inspiring design and quiet spaciousness.
Thanks so much for providing such an inspiring, nourishing opportunity to get away.
International design with local flavours in the country side with only friendly and uncomplicated exchanges, what more could anyone want?!”

The Flop House was an amazing experience from from the point of booking to the very end. Genevieve was very accommodating and very responsive to all our queries and arranging the biked for us to use during our stay. The house is a perfect get away located within easy walking distance to Piper Street filled with amazing food and shops. We look forward to staying at the Flop house again!!

From the moment we met Genevieve, our lovely host, we knew we were in good hands. Genevieve proves that hospitality is an art form. After two nights in one of her Flophouses outside of Kyneton, VIC, we were revived. I can’t wait to get back there.

My partner and I had the most beautiful and relaxing weekend at Genevieves’s Scandinavian retreat! Genevieve was an amazing host and truly has an eye for providing for an amazing stay! This accommodation is everything stated.. and so much more! Having travelled through Scandinavia (and fallen in love with it) I had been looking for an escape from Melbourne day to day life, that was similar to a Danish country cabin. Not only did this beautifully styled retreat take my soul for a little trip to Denmark, it also provided many luxuries such as an amazing breakfast selection (which also served as our first nights dinner), an amazing bathroom, Aesop and Salus products, chickens, a private deck/garden where many early morning tea’s were drunk and afternoon cheese and beer in the sun. I am an early riser, so as my partner slept in (in the ever so comfortable downstairs bed) I crept upstairs to the loft bedroom with a pot of coffee and enjoyed Genevieve’s beautiful selection of books. We were also lucky to have some cooler nights were we enjoyed board games by the wood fire. The perfect place to spend the weekend (or forever!) We would recommend spending as much time at the accommodation as possible! We truly were very sad to leave, but know we will be back very soon! x

Flop House, we love you - we knew we we would! From meeting our fantastic hosts; exceptionally warm, friendly and accommodating to resting our heads in one of the most beautiful loft houses we have ever seen. Wonderful attention to detail, delightful food and a wood fire for cosy times - we had the best time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
— Adam, Harpsichord House, November, 2015
Perfect stay at the Chair Makers House! We had a warm, lovely welcome from Genevieve and great support during our stay and beyond. We really enjoyed the time in the house as well as in Kyneton!
— Vibeke Hase, Chairmaker's House, September, 2015
We had admired Glen Rundell’s fine furniture at the Lost Trades Fair, so to stay in the The Chair Maker’s House, which he and wife Lisa, had actually renovated, was a delight. Genevieve our host had the house warm for us when we arrived - and it was cold outside - with fresh flowers, country eggs, and divine finger lime preserve for our breakfast toast. Really it could not have been better. We admired the meticulous detail in the graduated drawers made from London plane, the gouache-type colour scheme, the map with a suggested cycling route round Kyneton, and the hand turned Shaker pegs on picture rails throughout. I’d hang my hat one one of those Shaker pegs any day. A wonderful weekend! Thank you Genevieve.
— Elizabeth, Chairmaker's House, September, 2015
We were made very welcome. We loved the accommodation. Lovely renovated miners cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. Ideal location walking distance to shops and cafés. Will definitely recommend to our family and friends. Hope to stay there again.
— Michael Ryan, Chairmaker's House, September, 2015
A cosy retreat near the main street, with plenty of boutique shops and foodie cafes nearby. The dogs loved the backyard and the walk along the river.
— Marjeta, Harpsichord House, August, 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at Worm Wood Studio. It was spotlessly clean, cosy and warm; perfect for a quiet weekend away. The basic kitchen provisions (fresh bread was delish!) and breakfast voucher were lovely added touches. We’d love to come back and stay again in the future!
— Claire Devin, Wormwood Studio, July, 2015
Warm and cosy and beds like clouds. Beautifully renovated home with a lovely warm feeling - perfect for the low key girly weekend away we planned.
— Gemma Gray, Wormwood House, July, 2015
The Wormwood studio was lovely, we really enjoyed our stay. Especially the beautiful bread, preserves and muesli! Genevieve is an excellent host who replies promptly and made picking up keys very easy.
— Sanja Shoukath, Wormwood Studio, July, 2015
We had a fantastic experience at the Flop House. It was warm and cosy even on a very chilly winter weekend, and the beds were super comfortable with lovely linen. We loved the fancy chooks and the art work (especially the painting of the cat!). The location is perfect - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, and Genevieve was a great host and had fantastic recommendations about things to do and places to eat in Kyneton.
— Astrid Heward, Harpsichord House, July, 2015
My best friend and I had an incredible time in Kyneton and the surrounding towns, and it was all thanks to Genevieve. She was incredibly helpful and her suggestions for walks, restaurants, stores and many different experiences truly made our trip an amazing time away. The harpsichord house is beautiful, and well looked-after, with an open design and chickens in the backyard, as Genevieve and Sonny maintain breakfast provisions (a delicious supply of local foods) and assist with the fireplace. An extremely comfortable and warm stay perfect for winter. Genevieve’s sense of design resonates throughout- truly an inspiring stay, we felt the need to redecorate when we came back home. We spent much time chatting with her in her store, and her kindness and generosity were among the highlights of our time. Her extensive historic knowledge about people, places and things in her suggestions also made us appreciate the region a lot more than if we had no host-guess communication. She was honestly the perfect host. Had such a lovely stay and would recommend to everyone. Thank you Genevieve! We had such an amazing time and would love to come back again in the future.
— Kim Ngyuen, Harpsichord House, July, 2015
A wonderful little retreat in Kyneton. Genevieve was super lovely, helpful and suggestive on activities to do whilst in town. Even recommended a bar that was absolutely amazing. Thanks again
— Daniel Clerici, Chairmaker's House, May, 2015
We had a lovely, cosy stay at Flop House; beautifully clean and bright with fresh, local breakfast goods and luxurious soaps. The heater was efficient on the coldest day. A lovely selection of reading material and cosy spots for a relaxing few days away! We loved the peaceful and convenient location...and watching the chickens! Many thanks, Genevieve!
— Amy S, Harpsichord House, April, 2015
My partner and I had a lovely weekend at Chair Maker’s house. The house was spacious with a good kitchen. The furniture was really well chosen. Overall the house felt really comfortable and was close to all the shops and cafes.
— Jonathan Epstein, Chairmaker's House, April, 2015
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the flop house. Genevieve was very welcoming and her little home was the perfect place to rest after a day of exploring. Great design, great location, beautiful gardens, sweet breakfast hamper, comfy beds, lovely host, cheeky bottle of sparkling wine in the fridge..... What more could I possibly want!!
— Jessica Colangelo, Harpsichord House, February, 2015
Genevieve was very warm and welcoming and genuinely wanted us to have a good time - which we did! The house itself is amazing. Spotless, modern, but still with a nice homely feel too. Cooked dinner and the kitchen was a breeze with great stove etc. Had a lovely time, thanks so much - we plan on being back sooner rather than later!
— Nikolai Beilharz, Chairmaker's House, February, 2015
We had a lovely stay at Genevieve’s in Kyneton. The house is a cute little studio on a residential street a short walk from Piper St where the restaurants and boutiques are located - all of which were very quiet during our mid-week visit. The studio overlooks a cottage garden with apple trees and chooks and we enjoyed eating our brunch on one of the studio’s picnic rugs using the local produce that Genevieve had provided for our stay. The high-grade bed linen was enjoyable as was the comfort of the downstairs bed. If you’re looking for a relaxing, lo-fi weekend escape an hour from Melbourne, Genevieve’s won’t disappoint.
— Sunni, Harpsichord House, January, 2015
Genevieve’s Flophouse was beautiful. It truly is a getaway! The guesthouse is wonderfully designed; Genevieve has a great eye and it is evident that she has curated and finely selected each piece. It felt more like the Scandinavian countryside than kyneton! The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom and kitchen were fully functional with all the necessities. Genevieve’s hospitality goes above and beyond all my previous airbnb experiences. Highly recommend this place and I’d definitely would like to return!
— Jeremy Leung, Harpsichord House, January, 2015
Genevieve, her husband Sonny and her two gorgeous dogs made us feel incredibly welcome and relaxed at their beautiful Kyneton retreat. Beautiful property and home, overlooking a gorgeous backyard, chook shed and vegie garden. Lovely breakfast provisions, enticing books, comfy chairs and beds meant that we barely wanted to leave.! Nevertheless.. it’s a handy short stroll round the corner to Piper St and its plethora of amazing homeware shops, cafes and galleries, with lots of longer walks and day hikes also close by. Loved every minute of our weekend away - can not wait to come back soon!
— Jacqui Duc, Harpsichord House, December, 2014
Genevieve’s retreat was absolutely perfect. We unfortunately didn’t get a chance to enjoy all it’s offerings as we were there for a wedding, however we would definitely consider a re-book in the near future. It had everything we needed and Genevieve was more then happy to help with any request we had. The breakfast which included some beautiful local produce was thoroughly enjoyed with a pot of tea in the garden. Highly recommended and have already recommended it to friends and family.
