Lost Trades Fair 2017

Lost Trades Australia celebrates the art of skilled manual work and ancient and traditional trades and crafts, their special tools, traditions, languages and secrets which are now threatened by mass produced products in our modern society. Unfortunately many crafts and trades have been lost to history. Traditional crafts and trades that once were the backbone to building towns, cities and industries have gone and been left in the wake of new technology.

In the past people typically worked one trade or craft all of their lives and passed the secrets of their trade or craft to their children or apprentice.  So much information has been lost about the crafts and trades of yesterday, rare trades, unusual occupations and skills, while some have been captured in books written by tradesmen and craftsmen before they passed.

Glen and Lisa Rundell set up Lost Trades Australia with the aim of bringing together people that still have these skills and reignite the significance that these trades and crafts have in today’s environment, before they are lost to history.
